Statement by the Artist

My current body of work involves the examination of personal relationships as they affect my own self-awareness. Each series thus far devotes itself to one individual, in most cases a close family member or friend. The photographs act as a kind of collective character study, or portrait, of each person. They also reflect issues at work in my own psyche; thus, my perception of these relationships ultimately manifests a larger reflection of who I am. I use slide projections, cast on my subjects, as the only source of light. This process creates, for me, a haunting image of the human figure that soon loses its recognizable form.
