Shamsur Rahman, born in 1929 in Dhaka, and considered by many the greatest living poet in Bangladesh, writes in a distinctive style, combining neo-surrealism with the sophistication of modern urban life. He has been honored with many awards both at home and abroad. Shankar Sen was born in 1936 in Calcutta. An engineer and a retired bank executive, he took up writing for pleasure after retirement.
