Mia Kirsi Stageberg's early work was published in the New Directions annuals. She has been a single mother, nonprofit fundraiser, researcher, art writer, editor, oral historian, and singer in a few bands. Stageberg has sixteen books and ebooks, including two novels, and recent essays have been published in the US, Canada, UK and Belgium. She lives in Japantown, San Francisco and has a huge, amazing pine tree out her window.
